Stepping back into my whole closet had me flitting from one option to the next, over the last few days. With excitement, I embraced all the pant shapes I’d been missing and styled them with a renewed sense of interest. Absence does seem to make the heart grow fonder.
We had another mild week of weather that lent itself to light jackets and bare ankles, which reminded me how much fun it is to get dressed when it’s not freezing out, because the options are so much greater.
Here’s a look at what I wore…
MONDAY & TUESDAY were spent finishing up the 10×10 Winter Closet Challenge.
WEDNESDAY:

Fresh off wearing this jacket for several days in a row, and I am still reaching for it. I honestly thought I might get a little tired of this bold color, but so far, no. Warm tones in my wardrobe make me happy. I really like donning this jacket as an extra layer over a simple pullover sweater.
Style Notes: This outfit is a little more ‘busy’ than I typically wear but, at the last minute, I wanted warm ankles so I added socks. The look would have been more ‘clean’ or streamlined without the socks or the holes in the jeans, which I think I would have preferred.

Putting this outfit on was like wearing a hug. I felt so content all day in this. I basically took all my favorite things and put them on. I was warm, comfortable and happy. That’s how I want to feel everyday in my clothes. Pardon me if I wear this once a week for the rest of my life.

There’s something about wearing a smashing outfit on a Friday that makes the day double the fun. I mean, I’m already in a good mood because it’s Friday, but the day is bolstered by feeling fabulous in my clothes. And, indeed, I did feel fabulous in this outfit.
I’ve been following along with the Pyne & Smith Facebook group for a little bit, and I was inspired to see how all these women style their P&S dresses in the winter. Naturally, I dug mine out of my summer storage and decided to give it a shot. I was very, very happy with the results. I had forgotten how good I feel in dresses, particularly dresses of this shape. Pairing a soft, white dress with my leather jacket has been on my to-do list since I bought the jacket almost a year ago. Initially I thought this jacket was too long to wear with dresses, but since I’ve finally let go of the notion of a ‘perfect’ outfit, and instead opted for a ‘perfectly me’ outfit, I think it works spectacularly!
Style Notes: This dress is decidedly feminine, so I felt clog boots and a leather jacket were the perfect balance. Leather and linen is a beautiful combination. Will definitely repeat this one again soon!

SATURDAY:

This is my fourth attempt at owning white pants. All the other times failed to work out, and the consistent factor was sizing. I kept trying to make them too fitted. Tight white pants don’t do me any favors. On one attempt I joked with Paige that I felt a little too “Real Housewives”… I finally tried these from Everlane in the Modern Boyfriend fit in my true size. Typically I have sized down in this style, and this time I didn’t. The waist is a little big, and I might have them taken in, but the rest of the fit works great for me.
When it comes to white jeans, the struggle with keeping them clean is real. I would have worn them two days in a row, but I had already spot cleaned them three times. Not sure how I feel about that, I’ll keep you posted. Thankfully, the thick, woven fabric is more forgiving than a thinner smoother fabric would be.
Style Notes: Initially I styled this look with my white Cons, but when I looked at the pictures it felt a little too cultish, so I went for the clogs. I am not sold on the black bag here, but I’m a little stumped on what I might have used instead. Any ideas?

SUNDAY:

If Thursday’s look was a hug, then this look was like a salsa dance. It was fun, feminine and a little bit spicy. I absolutely loved it. Sundays are a fun day for me to experiment with dressier options, the type of looks I’d wear if I worked in an office or was headed to an event.
I recently ordered these Day Heels from Everlane, and I’m a little surprised it took me this long to try them out, because they are a beautiful and comfortable shoe. I sized up a half size and they fit great right out of the box. I am extra happy with this shoe because I realized I can wear it to an upcoming dressy event I’m attending with my husband. (Much to my relief, after persuing 3″+ heels on the internet to my own terror.) For me, style must always follow function.
A note on the Kamms: These continue to get more comfortable with each wear. The thick fabric is structured, but doesn’t feel constricting like it did when I first purchased them. I wore them all day without opting for sweats in the early evening.
Style Notes: I almost wore this with a jean jacket instead of the sweater coat, but swapped at the last minute because the former felt a little too predictable. I was a little surprised how well this big, baggy sweater works with the big volume pants, but I realized the key is the fitted silhouette underneath. The dainty shoes also help offset the extra volume. For me this outfit was a perfect collision of shapes and colors.

Love your white jeans! But they are so hard to keep clean. I’ve reached a point with mine where I’m accepting that they’ll have some stains and be a bit dingy, and it’s all just part of a more rugged look.
Agreed! Hence the jeans bit. Much easier to have white jeans than white pants. I am all for my clothing being ‘lived in.’

Oh wow, that last outfit is PERFECT. I lovr the cream, tan and navy together and the shapes are very dynamic. Just wow. Love that, I think it needs to be a 12 on the scale or something.
I also really like the dress with the leather jacket and clog boots! Leather jackets work with anything, you just sort of have to embrace the imperfectness they add to an outfit. You are really getting some wear out of those boots, it seems like they work with everything.

The clog boots were such a great purchase. They are my go-to shoe for most days! So comfortable and warm, yet kind of edgy and fun.

Love these looks! I have the Everlane white jeans and I love them, but also struggle with keeping them clean. Every time I pick up my 3 year old, I get shoe marks on myself. I can usually get them off by swatting myself “briskly”. AND I just wanted to say that the outfit with the Donegal sweater is one I had already planned for my trip to Spain in March. I have the V-Neck version and am waiting on my Only Child order to ship. I think it’s just perfect with the all-white underneath and the warm jacket on top. So glad to see these posts are back <3

I have a very tight deep V t-shirt. It disappears almost entirely (just peeks out at the back). I can only wear it under sweaters bc i sized down and it’s so sheer in white.

I have been really enjoying your blog! I am trying to develop a more focused personal style, primarily by making peace with my real tastes. (I recently watched a decluttering video where the vlogger cited the concept of “decluttering your imaginary self.” That really resonated for me! Too often, I shop and knit for my imaginary self rather than my actual self. LOL.) Anyway, I wanted to ask you about your Nisolo oxfords. I am currently mulling over whether to keep a pair of Everlane Modern Oxfords, which feel a bit too pointy to me. I know you have the Nisolo James Oxford, which interests me a lot. I learned about the brand from you, actually! I’m wondering how you would compare the relative pointiness of the toe compared to the Everlane oxford – if you can make such a comparison. And have you ever tried the Nisolo Oliver Oxford? The Everlane pair I ordered is the now-discontinued (but still in the “pay what you want” section) is black with a natural sole, which is what I really want. The Nisolo oxfords both seem to have a deeper red sole, which I also really love. I’m torn! Anyway, thank you so much for your blog. I really love what you’re doing, here.
