If spring doesn’t come to you, then you have to bring it yourself, right? While we’ve been fighting off snow this week (brrrrr…) I decided to bust out a dress over pants. I intended to wear this dress with wool tights, but it felt like the outfit was getting too dressy too fast, so jeans to the rescue.
Topping jeans with a dress is a super easy way to bring a little pre-spring cheer to my wardrobe without having to compromise things like warmth. I wore a really similar version of this look a few months ago and I definitely like this take better. In the older version I’m wearing my ‘safety net‘ jeans (I think the only time they made it on the blog!) and since I ditched those and styled this dress with jeans I love, the outfit works much better. Don’t keep what you don’t love in your closet, it will only slow you down!
With spring on the way, I’ve purchased a few items to add to my closet, and I’m very excited to try them out. They include ethical brands and designers I’ve yet to personally style and wear on the blog – stay tuned! Also, Everlane sent me their new Drape Trench to try out, and while I felt all kinds of French-chic when I first put it on, it ran quite large. (I’ll give you an update when I get the correct size.) If you’re looking to get it, I’d size down. I think it would look particularly cute styled with hightop tennis shoes.
One of the items I recently added to my closet is this Saddle Bag by Cuyana. I wanted something super sleek and minimalist, but also very structured. I love, loved the now retired Petra Crossbody bag by Everlane, and I wish they’d kept making it. I also adore this Half Moon Bag by A.P.C. (currently discounted for Shopbop’s spring sale!) but I was a little worried it might be too small for me.
Let’s hear it. Do you have any outfit hacks to make your spring clothing wearable now? Or maybe you’re one of the lucky ones who experienced 70-degree weather this week. Color me jealous!
