Do you know the difference between real ikat and fake ikat? Find out how fake ikat is hurting artisans, and how you can spot the real thing.

I am really excited to introduce this company to you, they have created new technology, which has the potential to drastically change the way clothing is manufactured! I’ll be partnering with Hong Kong-based Cosmos Studio in the spring, to bring you a full story, and share their product first hand. But if you have time, it’s worth checking out their Kickstarter. They are aiming to create the most sustainable shirt in the world! The video is really interesting – you’ll be blown away at how they have found a way to work around the large need for water when creating textiles.

Your personal-style food for thought: Leandra Medine postulates that perhaps personal style ‘happens’ to us. But in order for that to occur, two key things need to take place. A must read!

My friend Sara is closing her retail shop IMBY. You can read more about her reasons here. Sara is an amazing person with a passion for ethics in apparel and helping people live their best lives. Please, help give her the best of sendoffs and shop her entire shop at a discount as she winds down her business.

In January, I think I’m gonna do something a little different and let the Cladwell App* dress me for a week! Have you guys tried the app? I really like it, because their suggested outfits make getting dressed so much easier. Similar to how it’s much easier to edit someone else’s paper rather than create something from scratch with a blinking cursor on a blank screen. The app is $6-8/month (depending on the plan you purchase), but you can try it out for free for 3 days. (Hint: if you want to play along, download the app now so you have time to input your wardrobe by January!).

I never really thought about how complicated it was to make proper Ikat. Well let’s hope after this video that I can still figure it out.

I LOVE the idea of personal style being something that “happens” to you. I feel like the older I get, the more practical my tastes become, and I’m seeing a lot more patterns in the things I’m attracted to.
