Nisolo’s Brandy Collection, With a Little Help From My Friends

This post is in partnership with Nisolo, AND three of my favorite ethical blogging babes.

I can’t believe I haven’t told you guys yet — I’m in a band. A rock band. With these amazing women.

Okay, I kid, but wouldn’t that be amazing if it was true? We may not be in a musical band, but we are certainly connected by this ethical blogging community in which we are all a part of. Instead of instruments we use pens, and instead of microphones we have online platforms. I’m so thankful to know Allison of The Thoughtful Closet, Chloé of Conscious by Chloé and Ellie of Selflessly Styled. These women are passionate about style and how our choices impact others and the environment. I am constantly encouraged and challenged by their viewpoints and, of course, their outstanding style.

A few weeks ago, we had the privilege of getting together over the thing that connects us all – ethical fashion. Specifically, Nisolo and their newly launched line of Brandy colored shoes. If you’ve been around the blog for any amount of time, you’re familiar with Nisolo’s story. They’re a brand who loves people, and cares deeply for the ones who make their shoes. And they’re a fine example that ethics and style can be tightly intertwined.

Nisolo was kind enough to send each of a us a pair of shoes to style. And man, they’re beautiful. AND they were kind enough to agree to let us do a super fun giveaway. Each of us is giving away TWO! pairs of shoes over on Instagram. The giveaway kicks off tomorrow, be sure to check that out. (I’ll include our handles at the bottom of this post.)

Enough from me. How about we let the shoes do the talking.

From L to R: the Chelsea Boot, the Paloma x2, and the Emma d’Orsay Oxford, all in Brandy leather.

SHOE BREAKDOWN: THE PALOMA MULE by NISOLO

I chose this style from the Brandy lineup because I’m a big fan of my Mariella Mules, and I was curious to see how I’d like a slightly higher-heeled shoe. Though I will admit, when I saw Allison’s chelsea boots I got a little excited.

FIT:  I took these in my true size 10. The mule fit great and felt comfortable right out of the box.

MATERIALS:  These babies are all leather. There is a soft leather lining inside, and the 2.5 heel is made from stacked leather. The heel is finished with a rubber heel cap.

WHERE IT’S MADE: The Paloma Mule is handmade in a factory in Peru that is owned and operated by Nisolo.

COMFORT: The leather lining goes a long way to make these shoes comfortable. It’s soft and breathable. The 2.5 inch heel is very walkable. We walked all over when shooting these photos. I do think if I stood in them for long periods of time, the balls of my feet would get tired.

WHY I LIKE THEM: The color of these shoes definitely has that ‘wow’ factor. I think Nisolo must have updated their Brandy leather since my husband bought his shoes a few years ago. The red undertones on these are gorgeous. It’s the kind of leather that would probably look even more dynamic and beautiful after it naturally creases with time. I almost didn’t get this style because it’s similar in color to my clogs, but I realized they’re quite different in how they wear and look. Clogs are stiff (but supportive!) and these are flexible and move more with the foot. Clogs tend to have a wider and taller toe box, while these have a more sleek profile.

HOW I WILL STYLE THEM: For this shoot I was trying to think outside the box, and went with my Sailor Pants by Jesse Kamm in Skintone 34, which is almost the same color as the mules! I added my peach top from Son de Flor, and my trusty leather jacket. Purse is by Baggu. But let’s play imaginative dress up for a minute. I think these mules will look super cute with an all black outfit, either black jeans and sweater, or a black jumpsuit. I also think they will look great with vintage jeans, a cream top, and a rust duster. I also think they would create nice, clean lines with full-length straight leg jeans.

  1. These pictures are stunning! Love the colors and the camaraderie! And I’ve fallen in love with the beautiful brown of these shoes.

  2. I love how each of your personal styles shines through in these photos! The blush top is such a perfect complement to the rich leather hue.

  3. I love these shoes but would probably get them in a different colour! I find that I don’t wear brown shoes as often as my black or beige ones…

    1. Isn’t that interesting how we gravitate toward certain colors on our feet? I am the same way! I seem to not like black on my feet very much lately.

  4. This might be one of my favorite posts you’ve ever done! It looks so fun!!!
The new brandy color is gorgeous on each shoe, but I’m especially feeling the boots!
About to go check the other ladies out!
    Great choice and look! Xo!
